For the past er... eight years? I've had a constant pain in my left arm. I also ain't been able to extend it fully. Eight years, many doctors visited and no diagnosis, no nothing.

Until this Monday.

See, I figured that if one day your arm just hurts and won't work right, that is probably the sort of thing that your arm doesn't randomly decide to do. That's probably an injury.

NOT SO!

Turns out that randomly deciding to hurt all the time and not work is in a fact a thing that my arm just went and did all by itself. Yes. I have a diagnosis now. 'My arm just dun grown stupid'. Which is to say, there is a spur of bone at my elbow that is growing close to my major arm artery thing. Whenever I flex my manly muscles it constricts the artery and reallly hurts. and it took eight years for somebody to figure this out


Also when I try to extend my arm it reduces the blood flow to my hand by rather a lot.
Also there is a point on my elbow that if I push on it, I lose feeling in my hand.

HURRR

Um, anyway, getting the diagnosis is good news cause woo finally. But sort of also worrying, because now I need to go in this month for big ol' arm surgery... I am quite worried about this actually.
But I'm excited at the thought of perhaps I'll finally be able to move my arm.
I have to fairly warn everybody that when my arm gets out of the cast I am celebrating by punching everybody


The doctor said that there will be a massive scar on my arm from this surgery. In fact, he was quite trying to talk me out of it and that was his major argument (like I really care)... another argument he had was maybe it will not work right and I will have a continuing ache in my arm from the surgery (helllooo, like I ain't in constant pain right now anyway).
a concern is this surgery will be $$$ very much. And of course, if it had been diagnosed not even six months ago I would have had private health insurance to help pay for it.

Also my mother is crazy? This is probably not news at aall. I visited my dad yesterday and he said something like she said 'oh now i'll have to spend $8000 for merlin's arm'. wtf mum. I live away from you and am cashed up from soul-destroying public service work, of course I will pay for my own surgery. perhaps I should not be surprised she said that though.

The place I'm at now is v. nice. V NICE INDEED. Lots of space, far away from my crazy mother, massive TV (thanks rudd). It's a 3-bedroom house and I've got one housemate who is a little messy buuuut not too bad.

Things are pretty different lately!

My computer totally kicked the bucket, it sucks.

Saturday I guess I'll go out to the computer fair and get a new one. Throwing money, everywhere.

Luckily the one thing we can ascertain does work is my secondary hard drive, which aside from having all my not-necesarilly-backed-up art has data on it that's miraculously survived for like 8 years and 5 computers. Another stroke of luck is that just yesterday I backed up all the flash programs I was working on, which were not on the secondary drive.

Unfortunately my other two drives do not appear to be so salvageable. I think the only vital things on those are my website (which I can download), my galleries' generation files (which I can re-make with time), a few full-res character profiles (that won't really be missed), an asston of old gemstone comics (oh well), and Red Alert. Probably other things I'll remember as I curse later.

Welp, not-so-lucky in that I lost my freakin computer, but fortuitous in that I didn't lose a whole slew of files more than I did.


Nothin' for it but to blow my savings getting a pimp-ass computer that can actually play games more recent than Red Alert :I

I'll be graduating next week
I'm seeing the doctor about my arm and finger next week. (xrays of my middle finger = awesome)
I'll be off work until most of the assessment for the students is finished, since they're crazy busy.
Aaaand I've got a really nice graduate IT job offer for next year that starts in February C:

My job application got a little messed around though. They offered me a job in a city I didn't apply for. But that's all good - I'm accepting it anyway because I happen to live in that city so it just means I stick around for a while instead of moving next year and maybe splurge all my savings on a holiday in January.


Also I got my first traffic ticket last week!
It was a parking ticker. For Bondi Beach. In October. For a car I don't own.
(the last part isn't that much of a surprise, since I don't think I'm registered for any cars).
It was dropped this week so hooray for the NSW guys, they are pretty quick.

I finally heard back from the job I applied for a while ago. They left a message on my answering machine with a number to call. The number doesn't connect.

This does not bode well.

Finished my last exam today so fun times of procrastination and ... nothing else?

Graduation'll be on December 11th. I don't remember if it's morning or evening or who else the compsci/it/engineering guys are sharing a ceremony with but whatevs. Good times anyway. I guess I'll have to apply for jawwwwbs and the like, but I got me some time.

She was off her food yesterday, and wouldn't even eat much greens or move a whole lot. I think probably she died of old age, since she was at least five.

I got something from Medibank to a 'Mr Merlin Missingham'. Yeah. My health insurer totally thinks me a dude. :V Not a dude, you guys.
And I got a birthday card from my cousins to a 'M Merlin'. They wrote one for my twin at the same time and got his name right though. You'd think that's the sort of thing you'd notice.
